How to Sort Products on Category Pages
On this page, you'll learn how to sort products on your category pages.

Search Category
The first step in sorting your products is to find your category. To do this, click on Sort Products in the left navigation. This will pull up the following section.
To search for a category simply start typing the name of the category in to the Search Categories input. This will pull up categories based on the Category ID, Name, Path and Url. You are able to control what to search by clicking on the Search By drop down, which shows the following options. By default we search all Categories ID, Name, Path and URL. You can uncheck to stop searching that Category property.
Once you find the category you are looking for click on Load Category button. This will load the Category Sort settings and all the products from BigCommerce. So then you can either manually drag and drop the products or you can sort the products by property.
Drag and Drop Products
To manually drag and drop a product you will need to set the " How would you like to sort your products?" input to Custom Product Sort, as shown below.
- New Products in Category will be? - Allows you to set where you would like new products to show up in your custom sort order.
- Added Before All Products
- Added At the end of all Products
Bulk Sort Options - Allows you bulk sort the products
- Bulk Sort Below Products By Property - This option allows you to sort bulk sort properties by property. Then you can drag and drop the products from there.

- Best Selling
- Least Views
- Newest Products
- Oldest Products
- Name (A-Z)
- Name (Z-A)
- Price: Ascending
- Price: Descending
- Most Views
- Lowest Selling
- In Stock - sorts In stock products first
- Out of Stock - sorts Out of Stock products first
Bulk SKU Sort - This pops up a window that allows you to sort products by the SKU in a bulk list. The Bulk SKU list that appears is the current sort order of the products. Once you have the order you'd like click Sort. This will update the product listing in Magic Sorter. You will still need to click the Save Sort order button to save the settings.
- Bulk Sort Below Products By Property - This option allows you to sort bulk sort properties by property. Then you can drag and drop the products from there.
Display Options - This setting doesn't change anything in BigCommerce, it's just adjust the display options when sorting the products.
- Product Columns - Allows you to set how many products show per column
- Show/Hide Out of Stock Products - This will remove or show products that are out of stock.
- Show/Hide Not Visible Products - This will remove or show products that are set to not be visible in BigCommerce.
Drag and Drop - You can drag one product at a time, or can select multiple products by clicking the product and drag them into the location you'd like.
- When you're done make sure to click the Save Sort button at the bottom of the page. This will save the sort order, it takes approximately a minute for the sort order to be updated in BigCommerce.
Sort Products on Category based on Property
To sort products based on a property you will need to set the " How would you like to sort your products?" input to Property Sort, as shown below.

- Best Selling
- Least Views
- Newest Products
- Oldest Products
- Name (A-Z)
- Name (Z-A)
- Price: Ascending
- Price: Descending
- Most Views
- Lowest Selling
- In Stock - sorts In stock products first
- Out of Stock - sorts Out of Stock products first
- When done make sure to click the Save Sort button at the bottom of the page when done. This will save the sort order, it takes approximately a minute for the sort order to be updated in BigCommerce.
